Kitchen And Bathroom Renovation : How To Fix a Leaky Showerhead Part 02
HOW TO
1. Unscrew the showerhead, turning the pliers counterclockwise.
2. If it’s really stuck, use a pipe wrench to hold back on the shower arm. Gripping fi rmly on the shower arm with this wrench will keep it stationary as you unscrew the head from the arm with the pliers. Sometimes it’s easier to do this with a second person holding the wrench and you unscrewing with the pliers.
3. Remove the O ring washer (or rubber washer as seen in the photo) from the showerhead and use it to match with a replacement washer.
4. Clean out any old washer debris from the head and insert the new washer.
5.With a rag, remove any old Tefl on tape or pipe putty from the threads of the shower arm.
6. Wrap the Teflon tape clockwise around the shower arm threads, no more than two to three spins—more isn’t better here.
7. Screw the showerhead back onto the arm—fi rst by hand, and then snug it with the pliers.
8. Turn on the water and check for leaks. If you see a leak, snug it some more, being careful not to over-tighten.
