Kitchen And Bathroom Renovation : How To Replace a Toilet Seat Part 02
HOW TO
1. Clean up around the bolt holes with disinfectant cleaner. Lubricating spray does well here to remove rusty crud.
2. With the seat closed, lift up the caps (if applicable), line up the bolts,
and slip them through the holes. Some seats provide small foam pads to prevent seat wiggling. If so, stack them around the bolt holes.
3. Slip the washer and nut onto the bolt and hand-screw them snug. Be careful not to over-tighten—doing so can crack the porcelain.
4. If the bolt is slotted, hold back the nut with the wrench and tighten the bolt with a screwdriver. Do not overtighten.
5. If applicable, snap the caps closed.
6. Open and close the cover. It should move freely, but not wiggle. Adjust if necessary.
Mini Hacksaw Heaven 3
I love this tool! A close quarter hacksaw like the one shown here has been a lifesaver for me. I was once replacing old faucets in my mom’s house in Vegas. The water there is so bad; it corroded the fi ttings to the point that practically every faucet had to be cut out. I couldn’t have done the job without that mini hacksaw getting into all the hard-to-reach spots. And it surprisingly cuts through metal like buttah!
