You must allow 24 hours of drying time between gluing and grouting/caulking the soap dish before
it can get wet or be disturbed. In other words, the tub should be off -limits for 2 days.

You run the risk of breaking surrounding tile when you’re prying out the soap dish. Know that you
may need to have a replacement tile on hand. Be careful! Tile shards are very sharp. Where safety gloves and glasses. Never use a soap dish or towel rack as a grab rail.

PREP WORK

• Plug the drain with a rag and cover basin with a towel or tarp.
• In order to remove the old soap dish, you must first determine how it was mounted. The following two mounting methods are the most common.
• Surface Mount: Accessories that are surface mounted are easily recognized because they sit on the face of the tile, and their placement won’t necessarily follow any grout lines. It’s mounted to a metal or plastic bracket that is fi rst secured to the wall . To remove it, break the caulking seal or grout joint with a utility knife. Then, with a rubber mallet, gently knock the dish from the bottom up and off of its bracket.


• Tile-in: Typically, this method installs accessories when the walls are being tiled. A tile-in soap dish can be recognized because it’s set in place of a tile, so it’s not on the tile wall but set “in” it.


To remove a tile-in soap dish,With a razor scraper, scrape away any silicone or residue on the tile.
